The Story of Pine – Why Pinewood?

People often ask me: why pine? Why not a "nobler" wood?
The answer is simple, and it comes from the heart:
For me, pine is not just a material — it is nature, stillness, and memory.
As a child, I used to sit under an old pine tree in my grandparents’ garden. Its shade was cool, its scent lingered on my hands whenever I touched the bark. It made me feel safe.
That experience stayed with me. To me, pine is home.
Pine isn’t perfect. It’s soft, it dents easily, and it carries knots and marks of life.
But that’s what I love about it. It tells a story. Every grain, every scar is part of its past — and becomes part of the piece.
It’s also sustainable. Pine grows fast, is more accessible than many hardwoods, and doesn’t need to travel across the world to get here. It’s a choice of respect — for the material, and for the planet.
When I work with pine, I feel like I’m giving a new life to something that once stood in a forest, weathered wind and sun, and quietly grew through the years.
In my hands, it becomes a table, a tray, a bird, a gift — a memory.
So why pine?
Because it isn’t flawless.
It’s human. It’s warm. It’s alive.
And it’s honest.
